Engage Alabama provides A&S students, faculty and staff the opportunity to learn about local issues and contribute to communities in a meaningful way. During Spring 2022, the service projects will focus on Food Security and Rural Health with activities taking place in Birmingham, Camden and York Alabama. 

Sign up to attend this information session where you will have an opportunity to hear from faculty members and partner organizations as well as sign up for the project that interests you. Projects will include activities such as preparing and cooking a meal for a community shelter, engaging with and supporting healthy interaction with seniors by painting a public mural and helping to creating seating for an outdoor space at a rural health center.

All service projects will be a one day commitment on Saturday, February 26.

Requirements

Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
  1. Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.

  2. Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.

If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
